Meeting death in RAJAS, he is born among those attached to action; and dying in TAMAS, he is born in the womb of the senseless.

rajasi = in passion; pralayaṃ = dissolution; gatvā = attaining; karmasaṅgiṣu = in the association of those engaged in fruitive activities; jāyate = takes birth; tathā = similarly; pralīnaḥ = being dissolved; tamasi = in ignorance; mūḍhayoniṣu = in animal species; jāyate = takes birth.;
