The fourfold-caste has been created by Me according to the differentiation of GUNA an d KARMA; though I am the author thereof know Me as non-doer and immutable.

cāturvarṇyaṃ = the four divisions of human society; mayā = by Me; sṛṣṭvā = created; guṇa = of quality; karma = and work; vibhāgaśaḥ = in terms of division; tasya = of that; kartāraṃ = the father; api = although; māṃ = Me; viddhi = you may know; akartāraṃ = as the nondoer; avyayaṃ = unchangeable.;
