Self-conceited, stubborn, filled with pride and drunk with wealth, they perform sacrifices in name (only) out of ostentation, contrary to scriptural ordinance.

ātmāsambhavitāḥ = self-complacent; stabdhaḥ = impudent; dhanamāna = of wealth and false prestige; mada = in the delusion; anvitāḥ = absorbed; yajante = they perform sacrifice; nāma = in name only; yajñaiḥ = with sacrifices; te = they; dambhena = out of pride; avidhipūrvakaṃ = without following any rules and regulations.;
