brāhmaṇa = of the brahmanas; kṣatriya = the ksatriyas; viśāṃ = and the vaisyas; śūdrāṇāṃ = of the shudras; ca = and; parantapa = O subduer of the enemies; karmāṇi = the activities; pravibhaktāni = are divided; svabhāva = their own nature; prabhavaiḥ = born of; guṇaiḥ = by the modes of material nature.;
