śauryaṃ = heroism; tejaḥ = power; dhṛtiḥ = determination; dākṣyaṃ = resourcefulness; yuddhe = in battle; ca = and; api = also; apalāyanaṃ = not fleeing; dānaṃ = generosity; īśvara = of leadership; bhāvaḥ = the nature; ca = and; kṣātraṃ = of a ksatriya; karma = duty; svabhāvajaṃ = born of his own nature.;
